About

Hi, my name’s Christ.  This is my website.

About me

I’m a programmer, a gamer, a geek, and a student.  I’ve recently graduated from my local community college with three degrees and highest honors.  I’ve gotten an associates in science in each of: Computer Science, CIS – Computer Programming: C++, and Physical Sciences/Mathematics .  I don’t feel like anything special, but at the same time, I see how incompetent some of my peers are, and I can’t help but wonder how they’re in the same classes I am.  I’m transferring to the University of California Irvine in the fall.  It’s a beautiful campus, I’ve visited several times, and am looking forward to making it my new home for the next 2-3 years.

I feel like I might finally be getting somewhere now that I’m a university student.  I’m looking forward to some of the classes.  Okay, most of the classes.  Read more of my “Life” category to hear about my struggle through school and getting accepted as a university student.

Why WordPress

As you’ve probably guessed, we’re going to be using WordPress to power the site.  This isn’t because I like wordpress, or because I think it’s the best, or anything like that.  It’s for a number of smaller reasons.  First, I recently got a gig programming with a buddy of mine.  He uses wordpress as a base for a lot of sites, and I want to be familiar with the inner workings of wordpress, so deploying it for my own personal site makes the most sense.  First-and-a-half-ly, since I’ll be working with wordpress, I’ll be gaining the knowledge and experience to create my own plugins and addons for wordpress for my own site.

Secondly, I know wordpress has some cool features, a large community, and a nice interface.  As of initially deploying wordpress, I’m glad to see that the customizability and features of the suite have improved as a whole.  So far I’m finding it simple to do everything I want.  I don’t like any of the available themes though 🙁  I may have to make my own.  That’s an article for another day!  You can peruse my “meta” and “Programming” categories to find out more about my wordpress experience!

What else

I’ve been programming, networking, gaming, learning and living for years.  I’ve got a loose outline of a plan for this site.  I want to share my collected knowledge and wisdom from the past years, and I want to inspire you, my readers, to learn and grow and think as individuals.  I want a challenge.  Feel free to call me on my mistakes, or suggest new topics you’d like me to write about.  I want to inspire you to try something new, or teach you something you never knew you could do.  I want to fill the gaps in the knowledge others have shared, and I want to share new knowledge.  I want people to know what I believe, and why.  Most importantly, I don’t want anyone to feel inundated with posts about the little things they don’t care about so much.  As such, I plan to use the multisite feature of wordpress, and the categories feature heavily.  Pay attention to them, my readers.

Finally

As I write this first draft, my mind is scattered to a million places.  I hope through using this site, to, among other things, improve my focus.  I’m scatter brained.  I don’t know what I want to say, or how I want to say it.  I just know I have a lot to say and a lot on my mind.  Look for updates to this page in the future.  I’ll drop a post in the “meta” category when I update this page, and archive the old drafts for posterity’s sake!
